At the time Belkin's mural was listed as one of the most endangered public murals in the country, and there was hope that it could be conserved.
The other two images were taken by Rustin Levenson last week and show further deterioration of the painting. The wall the mural is on was originally an interior wall, before the adjacent building was torn down. It has not stood up well to the rigors of Manhattan summers and winters. At this time it appears that the repair of the wall will involve the destruction of the remainder of the mural. A replication is being planned.
